I did the hard disk kinstall, but opted out of the floppy creation, as I d on't have a working floppy drive.
When I try to boot from the hard disk, it doesn't (evidently) have enough info in the MBR

ewww that's a bad one !

the machines I installed this on before all had previous Linux installs on them, I'm going to
do a whole new installation on a machine that never had linux on it to see if I can replicate
this problem.

Can I contact you when I have a new iso ready to test ?

ok, here's what I did to test this:

made a completely new virtual machine under vmware

stuck CD in the drive, boot VM from the CD

open shell

su

knx2hd

follow prompts, first create a configuration

I noticed it did the harddisk partitioning *twice*, but this is no big deal
(though I have no idea why it did it twice)

when asked where to store the bootblock I choose MBR

finished configuration, do installation

declined the offer of floppy creation

waited until the script exists, then typed 'reboot'

and it started booting...

so, it seems the declining of the floppy disk creation had nothing to do with it,
but possibly the place of the bootblock had something to do with it ?

OK, I got it.

If I choose the second option in the 'where to store the boot loader' (root partition) then my
virtual machine gets caught in an endless loop complaining.

So, you *have* to pick the first installation option for the boot record if you do not yet have
an MBR (such as a multi-boot program), since this distro is meant to be run exclusively
on a stand alone box maybe I should go and take out the option to put it on the root partition
rather than the MBR.

thank you for pointing this out to me !
